I create line and watercolor wash paintings, interactive artist’s books, and book-based installations. An ecologist and evolutionary biologist by both training and inclination, in my science and art I have addressed how our environments shape our identities and relationships. In recent years, I have been rebuilding my life following a brain injury. This life-altering experience and our collective experiences of habitat loss, heightened human conflict and climate change have led me to ask: How are we transformed when our world is disrupted? I am now exploring the similarities and differences between line, color and text in conveying fact, perspective and questions.
